Speak Up: Practicing Your Speaking Skills

Learning Objective

At the end of the lesson, you will be able to confidently speak on a given topic for at least 2 minutes in English.

Topic Selection

Choose a topic that you are passionate about and prepare a short speech about it.

Vocabulary and Expressions

Make a list of vocabulary words and expressions related to your chosen topic.

Provide examples of vocabulary words and expressions related to common topics like food, travel, and hobbies.

Practice

Practice your speech with a classmate.

Encourage the students to practice their speeches in front of a mirror or with a friend.

Delivery

Deliver your speech to a classmate, making sure to use proper pronunciation and intonation.

Provide tips on how to deliver a speech effectively, such as making eye contact and using hand gestures.

Peer Feedback

After each speech, provide feedback to your classmates on their delivery and content.

Explain the importance of constructive feedback and provide guidelines for giving feedback.

Reflection

Reflect on your own performance and identify areas for improvement.

Encourage the students to think critically about their own performance and to set goals for future improvement.
