When do we use the  

"Present Perfect Continuous"?

• 1- The action started in the past. The action is still happening in the present.
  

• Taylor Swift has been singing since 2004.
• They have been hiking for hours.

• Signal words: for , since , how long

• What about Present Perfect ?

The action started in the past. The action is still happening in the present.

she has lived in New York since 1990.

Then what is the difference?

AND DURATION

The Difference between "the Present Perfect"and "the Present Perfect Continuous": 

• In the "Present Perfect Continuous" the emphasis is on the duration. 

When do we use "the Present Perfect Continuous"? 

• 2- When we talk about the present result of a continuous action in the past (most of the time it shows irritation)
