Improving your pronunciation

1. Often listen to English. Watch English movies, series, whatever you find interesting and carefully listen to the way words are pronounced.

2. Look up words you do not know in an online dictionary and listen to their pronunciation.

3. If you have difficulty pronouncing certain words, write down the way they are pronounced instead of the way they are written (writing down a word phonetically, this is called).

4. Record yourself speaking English and listen back to hear what mistakes you make. Try to improve these.

5. Watch videos on YouTube or use websites on English pronunciation. Many can be found!

It can help knowing the phonetic alphabet. In a dictionary, words can be found the way they are written, but also they way they are pronounced using 'phonemes'.
