Churchill, a cold little town in Canada

Slide 10 - Diapositive

Churchill, Manitoba
Churchill is a small town in the east of Canada, on the edge of the Arctic.
It’s so far from other towns that you can’t even get there by car, only by plane or train.
Only about 1,000 people live there.  It’s usually very cold and it snows a lot.  Most people use snowmobiles to get around.

Churchill might be small, but never boring! Let’s find out why........

Text Life in Churchill
Hi! I’m Quinton and I live in Churchill, Manitoba. I go to the Duke of Marlborough school. This is a high school and primary school in one building. There are about 200 students in my school. After school I usually play ice hockey with my friends. In winter, it gets really cold, sometimes even -26 degrees Celsius. I don’t really care if my clothes aren’t nice, just so long as they are warm.
In Churchill, nobody locks their door or even car door. This is because there are a lot of polar bears in town. When you see one on the street, you have to find a place to hide really fast. You can hide in cars and houses.
Is Churchill very different from where you live?
