Don't know the name?  -->  Dear Sir/Madam,

                                                         Dear Madam,

                                                         Dear Sir,

Know the name?             -->  title (Mr, Mrs, Miss or Ms, Dr, etc.) and                                                           the family name

Mrs=married / Miss=unmarried / Ms=unknown married or not

Body formal letter

KISS - keep it short and simple

Break your message down into paragraphs (alinea's)

- what is the topic (onderwerp)?

- why are you writing?

- what do you want the reader to do/know?

Try to keep your sentences (zinnen) short

Closing formal letter/email

Know the name?              -->  Yours sincerely, 

Don't know the name?  -->  Yours faithfully,

Know the person?           -->  Kind regards,
