Today we:

-  Practice conversation skills

Goals:

You can have short/easy conversations about familiair topics

You can ask and answer questions in English

You can have a group discussion with some phrases

Pros and cons childcare

- Read through the English pros and cons together (word)

- Pick one and try to think of a story behind the pro or con or make it stronger by thinking of other reasons, (at least 3), I will give you an example:

Example: (pro)

'Socializes children and helps them build relationships with peers'.

Often it is easier to learn from a peer than from a parent or caregiver

Children copy a lot of behavior from peers, this makes them learn faster

Interacting with other children allows kids to express their emotions, understand the feelings of others, and learn how to regulate their own emotions. 

Example: (con)

'Some children may not receive individualized attention or support in a busy childcare setting.'

At some childcares they just let the children cry instead of trying to comfort them because they don't have time or they just have a policy to do so. I would not want my child to be in such a place

Have a group discussion about the pros and cons

- Use your pros and cons that you just prepared

- Try and have a group discussion

- Use the sheet with discussion starters/ sentences

Evaluate

- What went well?

- What can be improved for next time?

How do you feel about today's class?
