reading a text step by step

1. find the subject by reading the title, looking at the pictures and finding out the type of text

2. read the introduction & subheadings 

3. read the entire text while answering the questions 

what is scanning? 

scanning: reading strategy to find specific information quickly

(we use this when we have to find specific information)

how do we use this strategy?

- let your eyes move quickly to find specific information

- think about the information you're looking for

for example:

- a date

- a phone number

- a specific word 

- a name
