Should

Should = to give or ask for advice. 

                       = je geeft of vraagt om advies


For instance:

                   Sarah shouldn't smoke so much.
When you go to Berlin, you should visit the palaces in Potsdam.

should

I shouldn't have eaten that lego block!

SHOULD =  advies aan iemand geven

• Iets wat je zou moeten doen

Must

To express necessity 

Je geeft aan dat het noodzakelijk is

for instance:

You must have a valid ticket in order to enter.

MUST

Have to

Talk about rules and orders coming from others. 

Het zijn regels/wetten die andere mensen/overheid je opleggen

HAVE TO

You have to wear a seatbelt.
HAVE TO =Iets wat verplicht is (door iets/iemand anders: wet)

DON'T HAVE TO

You don't have to wear a uniform.

Should

• Should (not) + werkwoord
• Als jij vindt dat iets (niet) zou moeten. 
  Je geeft bijvoorbeeld advies of raad iets af. 

Sarah should study for the test.

Sarah shouldn't eat so much chips.

Must

• Must (not) + werkwoord
• Als jij vindt dat iets (niet) moet of (niet) noodzakelijk is.
  Dit is krachtiger dan should. 

You must stop at a stop sign.

You mustn't go to that movie. 

Have to

• Has to / have to + werkwoord
• Als iets moet van iemand anders.

This has to be Jessica's jumper. (zekerheid)

I have to go now, or I will be late. (noodzaak)

We have to wear a school uniform. (verplichting)

Do not have to

• In ontkennende zin wordt have to niet hoeven i.p.v. moeten .
