I can talk about past actions using used to & would. 

What did you use to do when you were 7 years old that you don't do anymore?

Discuss with a neigbor; then, listen to a grandpa talk about his youth.

Used to & would + verb

To talk about regular past actions that no longer happen.

Ms. Wildeman used to play outside a lot as a child.

Ms. Wildeman would always swim on Sundays.

To talk about past states that are no longer true 

Ms. Wildeman used to love annoying her little sister.

Rewrite the sentence using 'would'.
Can't use would --> use 'used to'
Air travel WAS more expensive than now.

Rewrite the sentence using 'would'. Can't use 'would'? -> use 'used to':
People SMOKED on the plane.

Rewrite the sentence using 'would'. Can't use 'would'? -> use 'used to':
