The 3 Dilemmas
The democracy dilemma
The mental health dilemma
The discrimination dilemma

Slide 15 - Diapositive

The mental health dilemma
Addiction, anxiety and depression. Platforms are designed to reward distraction and keep us hooked – at the expense of our wellbeing – to fuel their business.

The democracy dilemma
Political polarization and divisiveness. Content that promotes outrage, deception, and conspiracy is promoted as a way to drive more engagement. Stronger ideological rifts make cooperation and compromise increasingly difficult and ultimately sabotage our democracy.
The discrimination dilemma
Algorithmic bias and the amplification of hate. Algorithms are not equipped to detect hate speech and the data harnessed by our online activity is used by institutions in ways that can harm and discriminate against marginalized communities.

What is the difference between an argumentative and opinion essay?

Slide 16 - Question ouverte

Cet élément n'a pas d'instructions

An opinion is a point of view formed without sufficient evidence to support it. It tends to reflect an individual's instinctive reactions and personal experience.
An argument involves arriving at a judgement which is based on an evaluation of relevant ideas and evidence.
