  • Read the first and last sentence of every paragraph 
  • Use when you need the main idea of the text

  • How do you know what a word means without looking it up?

  • It can be explained further on in the sentence (definition) 
  • Word part - do you know parts of the word?
  • Ther might be examples or pictures
