Slide 1 - Question ouverte

Previously we've learned......

- What is a class discussion?
- What are the rules of a class discussion?
- What do I have to prepare for a class discussion?

Slide 2 - Diapositive

To refresh your memory...

-> In a discussion, you talk to others about a particular topic. You can agree or disagree with the statement on that topic.

-> In a discussion everyone gives his/her opinion/point of view and arguments are given.

Slide 3 - Diapositive

But also....
-> A discussion can help you form an opinion on a topic. If you find someone else's arguments convincing, you can change your mind (opinion-forming discussion).

-> A discussion can lead to a solution while discussing (problem-solving discussion).

Slide 4 - Diapositive

And... some structure

  1. Presentation of the statement. The one who is against starts: I am against...because...
  2. Then the one who is in favor responds: I am for...because....
  3. If the discussion stalls, others can join in: when it's your turn, say the name of the person you want to discuss with.
  4. Try to come up with new arguments so that the discussion can continue.
  5. Evaluation.
