De trappen van vergelijking gebruik je om 2 of meer dingen met elkaar te vergelijken.

De 3 trappen

Trap 1: Positive degree

big / beautiful / good / bad / intelligent

Trap 2: Comparative degree

bigger / more beautiful / better / worse / more intelligent

Trap 3: Superlative degree

-er / -est

Bij woorden van één lettergreep gaan de trappen als volgt:

big - bigger than - the biggest

tall - taller than - the tallest

white - whiter than - the whitest

more / most

Bij woorden van twee of meer lettergrepen gaan de trappen als volgt:

beautiful / more beautiful than / the  most beautiful

interesting / more interesting than / the most interesting

as ... as

Als je wilt zeggen dat 2 dingen (bijna) hetzelfde zijn dan gebruik je as ... as (net zo ... als)

Woorden van twéé lettergrepen op -y krijgen ook -er / -est
