Adjectives vs adverbs

• Adjectives (zelfstandig naamwoord) say something about a noun
• Adverbs (bijwoord + ly) say something about nouns, verbs and other adverbs
  

Adjectives 

She is an excellent teacher (who or what is excellent?)

That is a dangerous move. (who or what is dangerous?)

Adverbs

You all played excellently today. (to which word is excellently referring to? What did they do excellently?)

Greg sang truly beautifully. (what does the word truly do in this sentence?)

Grammar: adjectives and adverbs

Choose between the adjective and the adverb in each of the following sentences.

A This artwork has a tragic / tragically sad story behind it.

B As he continued, the challenge grew increasing / increasingly difficult.

C You true / truly did your best, didn’t you?

D I have to say that her artwork did not sell very good / well.

E The painting is simply wonderful / wonderfully.

F Unfortunate, / Unfortunately, the art scene can be quite critical.
