Deze gebruik je om 2 losse zinnen te verbinden. Bijvoorbeeld:

I have a dog. The dog is friendly.

Door een relative pronoun te gebruiken maak je er 1 zin van:

I have a dog that is friendly.

_EXAMPLES (VOORBEELDEN)

Bij personen: Who

Possession (bezit): Whose

Bij dieren of dingen: That of Which

Je gebruikt that ook als de extra informatie nodig is om te weten waar de zin over gaat:

The lasagne that I wanted to eat was gone

Who, whose, which of that?

The boy ____ lives next door is my friend.

Who, whose, which of that?

I saw a bird ______ was very colorful.

Who, whose, which of that?

The woman _______ kid was screaming left the store.
