How do you summarise
a text?

Summarising a text

- What is the main subject of the text?

- What is the goal of the text?

- What is the conclusion of the text?

- Underline or write down key words and sentences

- Connect important information between paragraphs

- Sum it all up

Summarising a meeting (Notes) 

- Write down the subject of the meeting, date, and the people present

- Write down who says what

- Use abbreviations (afkortingen)

- Sum it all up in a clear report afterwards

Direct + indirect speech 

Direct speech:

 - When someone says something themselves

''You can sit here.''

Indirect speech

 - Telling what someone else said in your own words

He said that I could sit here.

Indirect speech usually start with:

- He said...

- She thought...

- They asked if...

Indirect speech = past tense

You report something that 

has already been said. So

it's in the past.

For example:
