part 3 Word formation
a text containing eight gaps. Each gap corresponds to a word. The stems of the missing words are given beside the text and must be changed to form the missing word.

There are different parts of speech:
  • noun ( zelfstandig naamwoord)
  • verb ( werkwoord)
  • adjective ( bijvoeglijk naamwoord)
  • adverb ( bijwoord)
The information in the sentence (before and after the gap) tells you which part of speech you have to use. For the test you need to learn how to use all 4 parts of speech .
You also need to have a good grasp of how words care formed. Have a good look at the handout.

Examples
  1.  Finn's father was a very ......... (success) lawyer.

Succes here says something about lawyer. Lawyer is a noun so you need to fill in an adjective. You want to say that he is a lawyer who has succes.. i.e. is full of success. So succes changes to successful

2. Tonny's performance attracted a lot of ........ (admire), as it was so original.
a lot of is followed by a noun. You want to address the state of admiring. So it needs -ation. admire becomes admiration.
