When do we use it?

- Events that started in the past and are still going on/ connected to the present (focus on the activity)

How do we use it?

have or has + been + verb + ing

Present perfect

When do we use it?

- Events from the past that have consequences in the present (focus on result)

I can't give you my textbook, I have lost it.

- Past events when it doesn't matter when they happened 

I have been to a lot of countries in Europe.

Present perfect

Bij FYNE YAS woorden in de zin altijd present perfect gebruiken!

F or, Y et, N ever, E ver, J ust, A lready, S ince 

> bijv. I have not seen her YET/ She has worked here FOR 6 years.

The passive

When do you use it?

- When it is unknown who does the action or it is not important (action more important than the person who does/did it)

- When there is emphasis on who does/did the action using a by phrase.

bv. The walls were painted yesterday.

       This book is written by me.                   

The passive tt and vt

The passive in the present tense:

- Bij het heden en dingen die altijd waar zijn.

- am/are/is + voltooid deelwoord (3e rijtje)

The passive in the past tense:                           

- Bij het verleden.                            

- was/were + voltooid deelwoord (3e rijtje)

Passive (alle vormen)

Wanneer de zin in deze vorm staat:	Maak dan de passive zo:
Present simple	am/is/are + volt. deelw.
Past simple	was/were + volt. deelw.
Present perfect	have/has been + volt. dw.
Past perfect	Had been + volt. deelw.
Continuous	am/is/are being + volt. dw.
Hulp werkwoord	hulpww. + be + volt. dw.

The passive trick

- Wanneer je 'by the police' of 'by Betsy' aan een zin kan toevoegen is het passive!

Example: The criminal was caught and put in jail (by the police).

                     The walls are not painted (by Betsy)

Tip: Practice with making passive sentences from active sentences!

Deze onderwerpen zitten verwerkt in de toets, vergeet deze dus niet te leren!  

Have/get something done hoeft niet!

Writing

Tips:

- Na je aanhef (Dear ..... , ) en voor je afsluiting een witregel overslaan.

- Denk aan leestekens (punten, komma's etc.) en hoofdletter.

- Schrijf getallen (zoals leeftijden) uit! 

- I (= ik) is altijd met een hoofdletter!

- The Netherlands is ook met hoofdletters.

- Zorg dat alle punten er in staan! (anders minpunten).

- Kies een passende afsluiting zoals Kind regards of Best wishes.

Practise time! (gebruik bij het leren voor opbouw van de brief)

- You are on a holiday in England and you are writing a message to a friend. Include:

- Begroeting/ afsluiting

- Introductie regel: reden waarom je schrijft (bijv. vertellen over je vakantie/ iets leuks meegemaakt).

- Middengedeelte: Vertel 2 dingen die je gezien/ gedaan hebt.

- Vertel wat je het leukst vond.

- Noem een verschil en een overeenkomst tussen Nederland en England

- Stel een afsluitende vraag
