May refer to the past, the present, or the future.

Which words do you use when you're 100% certain? Which words do you use when you're not certain at all?  

Modal auxiliary verbs and adverbs

Adverbs

Possibility and probability: 

maybe, possibly, probably, perhaps

Certainty:

certainly, definitely, clearly, surely

The position of adverbs in a sentence: 

Maybe and perhaps are usually at the start of the sentence 

Maybe he would like to try something new.

The other adverbs of probability usually come before the main verb of after the verb 'to be'.  

He probably buys them here. These are clearly more expensive.

Spelling rule: the adjective ends in short vowel and consonant? Then double the consonant --> big - bigger - biggest

It doesn't matter how many syllables the word has.

Is the adjective irregular? --> follow the irregularity (learn them by heart)

Does the adjective end in -Y? --> ier/iest 

Does the adjective only have one syllable? --> er/est

Does the adjective have two or more syllables? --> more/most

Mind the spelling rules!

Instructions and orders

To order someone to do something or to give instructions you use either the positive or negative imperative. 

positive imperative: base form of the verb 

Clean your room.

negative imperative: don't + base form of the verb

Don't talk right now.

Use linking words and sequences to order your instructions: 

First/firstly - Second/secondly
