Texas is well-known for its massive size. As the second-largest state in the US in both land mass and population, the state of Texas encompasses over 268,597 square miles. To put that into perspective, Texas is twice as big as Japan or Germany and 10% bigger than France. If Texas were a country, it would rank 40th largest in land size.

Texas
- The capital of Texas is Austin.
- Texas is also known as the Lone Star State. It earned the
   nickname when Texas became an independent republic after
   it declared its independence from Mexico. Texas became an
   independent republic from 1836 - 1846 (when it was annexed
   by the United States. 
- More wool comes from Texas than any other state in the US.
- Texas comes from the Hasinai Indian word tejas meaning friends or allies.

Commonly seen while driving along Texas backcountry, the Texas Longhorn is a breed of cattle known for its characteristic horns, which can extend to 7 feet.

Why: Get an idea of the unit and use skills
How: Do exc 1 - 4 on page 54/55. Reading and doing research. Record
vlog together
Time: Untill last 5 minutes
Help: Pair work, everyone writes down own answers. Not on phone
Outcome: Vlogs presented tomorrow.
Finished: Start filming vlog
