Slide 25 - Question de remorquage

a "gump" is "a foolish or stupid person,"
"Forrest" apparently comes from Nathan Bedford Forrest, the guy who founded the Ku Klux Klan.
What's up with the title?
"Momma said the Forrest part was to remind me that sometimes we all do things that, well, just don't make no sense.

Setting

Slide 27 - Diapositive

Main characters
Forrest Gump
Mrs Gump
Forrest Gump Jr
Lieutenant Dan
Bubba
Jenny

Slide 28 - Question de remorquage

Forrest
  • tiny IQ
  • momma's boy
  • innocent
  • war hero
  • shrimping genius
  • ping-pong whiz

Slide 29 - Diapositive

Forrest
He's a lover, a fighter, a football star, and a multimillionaire. In other words, he just might be the perfect all-American man

Slide 30 - Diapositive

Jenny
  • molested by her father
  • wants to become a bird and run away
  • keeps running her entire life

Slide 31 - Diapositive

poor Jenny just makes one bad decision after another: posing nude, then singing nude, then dating an abusive guy, then boarding a hippie bus to California (like that's going to end well), then getting involved in a gross '70s drug scene—it's just a sad litany of What Not to Do

Slide 32 - Diapositive

Mrs Gump
Mrs. Gump's main character trait is a deep love for her son, leg braces, IQ of 75, and all. She dedicates herself to giving him a normal life and convincing him that he's just as good as everyone else.

Slide 33 - Diapositive

My momma always said: ...........
  • Life is like a box of chocolates. You never know what you're going to get
  • Stupid is as stupid does
  • You can tell a lot about a person by his shoes.

Slide 34 - Diapositive

Bubba
  • not too bright
  • likes to talk about himself and tell stories from his life
  •  friendly, family oriented and just wants to make people happy

Slide 35 - Diapositive

He tells Forrest his name and his entire family story,  saying he's a shrimp fisherman at heart and he knows "everything there is to know about the shrimping business."
He then goes on to list just about every type of way there is to prepare shrimp, ending with, "shrimp salad, shrimp in potatoes, shrimp burger, shrimp sandwich. That's about it.

Slide 36 - Diapositive

Lieutenant Dan
  • Somebody in his family had fought and died in every single American war.
  • Believes he's destined to die on the battlefield
  • Instead of dying a hero, he ends up a wheelchair-bound cripple

Slide 37 - Diapositive

by taking action for once rather than bemoaning his loss of destiny—Lt. Dan actually writes himself into a pretty sweet future as the part-owner of a multimillion-dollar shrimping company, a savvy early investor in Apple, the owner of a fancy pair of prosthetic legs, and, of course, a man with a hot fiancée.

Slide 38 - Diapositive

Forrest Gump Jr
Once Jenny dies, Forrest takes on the role of being Forrest Jr.'s only parent. On his first day of school, we see the boy go through the same routine that Forrest did. The last thing Forrest tells his son in the movie is that he loves him, to which Forrest Jr. answers, "I love you, too, Daddy."
Looks like they're going to do just fine together.

Slide 39 - Diapositive

symbols
  •  feather
  • box of chocolates
  • leg braces
  • running

Slide 40 - Diapositive

the feather
As Mrs. Gump would say, "Life is like a floating feather. You never know where it's going to end up."

Slide 41 - Diapositive

That dancing feather has no clear destiny, no point where it's supposed to end up. It just is.

Forrest says : "I don't know if we each have a destiny, or if we're all just floating around accidental-like on a breeze."

Slide 42 - Diapositive

this phrase gives us a  more evidence that the movie is coming down on the side of chance rather than destiny.

Mrs. Gump says that we never know what's coming for us; and we never know whether we'll end up dying as millionaires or destitute.

Slide 43 - Diapositive

leg braces
The leg braces are an symbol of Forrest overcoming a weakness and turning it into a strength, just like he does with his intelligence
