als iets een gewoonte was in het verleden, gebruik je

- used to + verb                      

- is bij iedereen hetzelfde.

Ik ging altijd met de bus naar school

I used to go to school by bus. 

Hij ging iedere zaterdag zwemmen. 

He used to swim every Saturday. 

Wij kochten altijd een ijsje daar. 

We used to buy ice cream overthere. 

questions + negations 

dus vragende en ontkennende zinnen maken

- je hebt daarvoor een extra werkwoord nodig, een hulpww (auxiliary verbs)

hulpwerkwoorden zijn bijv: 

- to do / to have

hierbij is het belangrijk om wie het gaat

dus de juiste vorm van to do / to have

- can / must / shall / will / should

deze hulpwerkwoorden hebben maar 1 vorm en zijn bij alle personen hetzelfde. 

He likes cats. 

Does he like cats? (question)

We don't like any cats. (negation= negative)

They cleaned the house.

We haven't cleaned the house.

We mustn't help him.
