Modals with negations 

Soms gebruik je een werkwoord + -ing als een zelfstandig naamwoord. Je kunt deze vorm gebruiken na werkwoorden als love, like en hate.

I love going to festivals.

We don’t like writing essays.

Do you hate travelling by bus?

Na want, promise, decide, plan, hope, ask, refuse, expect gebruik je to + het hele werkwoord.

I want to volunteer at the community centre.

They are expecting to get enough money.

We refuse to stop working.

Can and to be able to 

Verzoek, toestemming vragen of geven, praten over mogelijkheden en bevoegdheden.

Could 

Verleden tijd van 'can', Vragen op een formelere en beleefdere manier, praten over een mogelijkheid in de toekomst

Negations 

Negatief maken van het woord 

Can't / cannot (yes this is the correct way)  / couldn't / could not etc.
