On a SSCI kiosk a passenger can:

In what situation you can not
check-in at a SSCI kiosk?

Direct the passenger to a check-in desk (service desk):

• when check-in on the SSCI kiosk fails
• when it comes to special passengers (eg. UM and PRM passengers)
• when there is oddsize bagage (eg. a bike wheelchair, walker, AVIH, surfboard etc.

Ch.5: Carry-on and hold luggage

2 types of luggage

Carry-on luggage

• small size bags
• goes with passenger in cabine

Hold luggage

• bigger size bags
• needs to be checked in at departures and goes in hold 

As a PGSA:

• you check and aswer questions about the size and amount of luggage
• you notice and adress passenger when they don't comply with the luggage rules

Sizewise:

• PGSA in departures checks dimensions handluggage and prevents too much handbags at gate 
• Does luggage not fit in sizewize then the passenger goes to service des for check-in

Hold luggage (checked luggage)

Passengers can only check-in a limited number of pieces or kilos of luggage free of charge (=free baggage)

When allowance is exceeded the passenger has to pay excess baggage

Airlines use the piece (charge per unit) or weight (charge per kilo) concept

SSDOP-the machine alerts there is excess baggage

The passenger will be directed to a servicedesk and the PGSA calculates the excess baggage fee

How to read a baggage label

Check-in baggage always needs a label wich contains:

• a barcode
• a tagnumber associated to the passenger
• flightnumber
• destination
• date
• securitynumber
• claimtag
• reconciliation stubs

Claimtag

With the claimtag the passenger can proof that it's his luggage. A passenger receives this stub at check-in and needs to preserve it in case of transfer or luggage problems

Limited release

When you are a SSDOP greeter and notice a suitcase is damaged the passenger needs to  fill out a limited release label at the service desk.

Examples:

-broken handle

-ripped handle

-ripped suitcase

-missing wheel on a trolley

Limited release is not handled at the SSDOP because:

• the SSDOP process need to be quick service
• SSDOP labels are self-adhesive so there is no space for limited release information on the back
