  • & to be (= am, are, is)

  • read the conversation & underline was & were
  • past simple = to talk about finished events and situations in the past
  • present: to be = I am, you are, she is, we/they are
  • past +: I was, you were, she was, we/they were

  • WH- ?: When were you born? -> In 1993.
                    Where was she yesterday? -> She was at the mall.
  • time expressions: yesterday, last Monday/week/year, two days/weeks ago, in June, in 2004, at 1 o'clock
