  • Sources give us information about the past.

  • History tells you something about who you are.
  • History helps you to understand why the world around you is as it is.
  • History teaches you to think about what is true and what isn't.
  • History teaches you that people have different opinions and ideas.
  • History teaches you to think about what is right or wrong to do.

  • History is a subject that researches how people lived in the past
  • Sources give us information about the past.
  • The past is divided into time periods and historical periods.

  • Starts with the year 1 (careful: the year 0 does not exist!)

  • Birth of Christ

  • But...history doesn't start in the year 1 of course!

  • BC = Before Christ, AD = Anno Domini, after Christ was born.

The 1st century is from the year  1 up until 100. 
The 2nd century is from the year 101 up until 200. 
The 3rd century is from the year 201 up until 300. 
The 16th century is from the year 1501 up until 1600. 

Before Christ --> B.C.
100 B.C. - 1 B.C. is the 1st century Before Christ
200 B.C. - 101 B.C. is the 2nd century Before Christ
