1. Predice

See the text as a whole, the pictures, the header, etc.

What will be the text about?

What type of information do you think that is included in the text? (depending on the type of text)

Note down your answers 

2. Visualiza

Create mental images of the characters/topics/ideas in the text.

What words/information/topics will be informed/ dealt with? 

Note them down in your notebook

3. Pregunta

Read the text

Ask yourself questions to see if your ideas of the text make sense. 

Reread the text if needed. 

4. Conecta

Think about what you know about the topic of the text and make a mind map with these words

( words like adjectives, verbs, etc.)

5. Identifica

Determine the author´s purpose.

Find the main idea and the important details.

What are the main themes in the text.

Note down your answers

6. Infiere

Use clues in the text to fill in the gaps and draw conclusions.

If a word is unknown to you:

• See if it´s and adjective or a noun.
•  Look at the different parts of the word. You might already know part of the word.
• Use you own language. Sometimes the word is similar to a word of your language. 

(Only after you have done all the former steps, you may look up words in a dictionary)

Note down your answers (the meaning of words, what kind of word it is, etc)

7. Opina

What is your personal opinion on the topic of the text? Is this situation common in your own country? 

Note down your answers
