What is typical English culture?

How do you tackle questions about texts? What do you do first and then? What ways are there to read texts?

Advanced Assignment

• For those of you that are good at answering questions about texts: after answering the next slide you can start working on your own on the following site: https://learnenglish.britishcouncil.org/skills/reading/upper-intermediate-b2
• You have approximately 20 minutes.
• WORK on at least B2 level but choose which texts are interesting to you. 
  

What do you do first and then?

• Je kijkt naar de titel van de tekst, plaatjes en tussenkopjes.
• Daarna ga je voor jezelf al voorspellen waar de tekst over gaat. 
• Dan lees je de vraag en kijk je welke strategie je kiest om te gebruiken. 
  
• Je past de strategie toe en beantwoord de vraag.

Scannen

Je zoekt in de tekst naar woorden die met de vraag te maken hebben. Dan ga je dat stukje tekst goed lezen.  Je moet dus eerst goed bedenken welk woord je gaat zoeken in de tekst.

Intensief lezen

Je leest de hele tekst aandachtig door. Dus elk woord en je zorgt dat je de tekst begrijpt.

Skimmen

Je leest snel de tekst door en leest van elke alinea de eerste en laatste zin. 

Wat voor soort vragen?

Welke soort vragen kun je verwachten op je examen?

“Home Alone Dogs” (title)
What is said about these dogs in paragraphs 1 and 2?

1. They remain loyal to their owners despite feeling disappointed
