Achter het hele werkwoord komt dan geen 's'!

Het werkwoord 'to be' is speciaal. 

Als er am, is, or are in de zin staat, haal je die naar voren.

Bij he/she/it moet je goed opletten! Kijk naar het voorbeeld hieronder!

De -s achter play vervalt bij een ontkenning.

Je maakt een ontkenning door don't or doesn't toe te voegen. 

So not like this:

                                        I like not cookies. 

But like this:

                                       I don't like cookies

Om te zeggen dat iets niet zo is, gebruik je not.

Vaak wordt het ook gebruikt als n't, bijvoorbeeld don't or doesn't.

Voorbeeld:

                             She doesn't see very well. 

Aantekening: ontkennende zinnen

onderwerp + don't / doesn't + hele werkwoord

I/you/we/they don't + werkwoord

I don't see / you don't wash / we don't try / they don't think

he/she/it + doesn't + werkwoord

he doesn't work / she doesn't talk / it doesn't do
