Lesson goal: You can explain the meaning of propaganda and how propaganda worked during WO2.

Jewish Monument
The Jewish Monument commemorates the more than 104,000 people who were persecuted as Jews in the Netherlands and did not survive the Holocaust. Each victim is commemorated with a personal page.

18,000 of the victims were children. Many of them did not live to be older than you are now. But who are these children and what are their stories? Go on a quest to find a peer.

  1. Open https://www.joodsmonument.nl/wordt-gemist/zoeken
  2.  Klik op 'Iemand van mijn leeftijd' en typ je leeftijd in. Hoeveel joden die tijdens de Tweede Wereldoorlog in Nederland woonden zijn niet ouder geworden dan jij nu bent? 
  3. Ga naar 'Geavanceerd zoeken' (rechtsboven) en typ bij 'Woonplaats' "Amsterdam" in. Klik op 'Zoeken' (rode knop).
  4. Kies een van de personen uit de lijst.

  2. Bekijk de pagina van deze leeftijdsgenoot. Wat kom je over haar of hem te weten?
                      - Waar is zij/hij geboren?
                      - Waar is zij/hij doodgegaan? En Wanneer?
                      - Kijk ook bij eventuele broers/zussen en ouders. Wanneer zij                                     zijn gestorven?
                      - Op welke dag was zij/hij jarig? Hoe oud is zij/hij geworden?

                      - Op welk adres woonde zij/hij?
                      - Kun je namen vinden van broers of zussen?
                      - Als er een foto is: beschrijf hoe zij/hij eruitzag. 
                         Wat zie je nog meer op de foto?
                       - Als er verhalen zijn: wat weet je nog meer over haar/zijn leven?                            - Als er links zijn: wordt er verwezen naar een monument? Zo ja, weet je waar dat staat?

The died all on the same day. Only victor died at 31 march 1944 

Benjamin Jacobs was 14 years old when he died.
