Plan On
  • You are going to write your own review of an activity you like.
  • Read the task and underline the things you need to do in the task. (Don't underline in your text book!) make a note  of the things you need to do!
  • How many words should you write?

Work in pairs
  1. Who is the target reader?
  2. What is the purpose of the review? 
  3. What is an appropriate style for the reiview?
  4. What kind of layout do you need to use?
  5. What kind of information?
  6. What about the conclusion?

Did you enjoy it ? Why/Why not?

Which adjectives did the writer use in the review?
Are they positive or negative?

Explore vocabulary
A good way to extend your vocabulary is to use compound adjectives. 
ex 6
  • find examples used in the review.
  • How has each compound adjective been formed? 
  • example: middle-aged (adj + verb)
  • 18 year (number + noun) 
  • brightly lit (adverb+verb
  • well-known (adverb+adjective)

Remember, that you have to give your own opinion at the end of a review and a recommendation so that readers can make up their own mind.

  • complete the sentences individually and then compare the answers with a partner. Try and use expressions like these in your review.

  1. Think of an interesting title.
  2. In the first paragraph, say what you are reviewing.
  3. In the next two paragraphs, give your opinion of the activity. You may include negative points. Use descriptive language.
  4. In the final paragraph, summarise your opinion and give a recommendation
