The world of work has changed drastically over the past decade. It is now more common for people to work for online services, such as bloggers, website designers or online customer support.
Due to this, the nature of hiring has changed, and companies are much more aware of how to search for someone's online profiles, to see if they are a good match for the company, in terms of ethics and personality. So, yes! It is very beneficial to have a positive online persona in the modern world!

Imagine you are on the hiring team for a tech company. You have 4 CV's to look at, and decide if they are a good match for your company. Examine their CV and comments about what your team has found on them from socials, and decide if they would make a good hire or not!

Kelly 
Kelly is 20 years old. She has an A-level in media studies and did an internship at her local radio station. She has applied to be a marketing manager. Kelly has her Instagram set to private and hasn't been involved in anything negative that is newsworthy. She often uses Twitter to vent about her frustrating relationships with her friends.

She is well-qualified and shows a real interest in marketing. She is hoping to take her studies further and has ambitions to own her own company one day

Sam
Sam is 27 years old. He has a degree in film studies and has worked for his local TV station as a cameraman and director for the past 5 years. 

He wants to be a head of videography. Sam doesn't have Snapchat or Twitter, and has been in his local paper for producing some great film content for his town.

He doesn't believe in setting his profiles to private as he believes that people should have free speech, no matter what other people might think about what you say. He is very open about his views on migrants, and does try to get his friends to join in his political discourse.

Esmée
Esmée is 19. She wants to work in your charity outreach sector to help people less fortunate. She has most of her social media set to private, but has a TikTok with 80k followers where she creates videos about homeless people. 

She shares a lot of content on it and will often jump on the newest trending sounds, creating videos for her followers. She gets mixed comments, as some people feel like the way she posts about it is exploitative. 

She has made response videos to these saying she doesn't care about the hate. She doesn't have much experience as she has only just finished her A-Levels, where she averaged a grade C.

Dami
Dami is 24. He is very interested in web design and has helped his family business set up its own website and branding. He runs his main Instagram account as a fashion blog with around 2800 followers, mostly based around the London area. He achieved well at school, and is very proud of his heritage, often talking about his family's Nigerian culture on his various accounts. He has a LinkedIn profile that advertises his work, and he often tries to interact with larger companies about what they are doing and lets them know he would love to work with them. None of his profiles are private, but due to his upbringing, he always thinks twice about what he uploads. His Snapchat account is advertised across all his other socials. He is very active in the UK Black Lives Matter movement and posts stories often about the rally's and meetings he attends.
