The passive

Nederlands – lijdende vorm

Gebruiken als 

1) je niet weet wie het gedaan heeft, of het niet belangrijk is wie het gedaan heeft:

 e.g. Tommy’s arm is broken.  

 Suddenly, she was hit on the head and blacked out.

 

2) Als de focus van jouw verhaal op degene ligt bij wie het gebeurt:

 e.g. Tommy was hit by a car.

 Google had been introduced on the market by then. 

Can you recognize the passive?

Read the following sentences. Can you recognize the passive?

Test=Wie doet het werkwoord? 

Antwoord = vooraan = active. 

Antwoord = achteraan = passive

Tom is always bullied by his classmates.

How to rewrite passive

1. Schrijf de zin over.  

2. Omcirkel het lijdend voorwerp/meewerkend voorwerp.

2. Onderstreep alle werkwoorden (gezegde).

3. Streep het onderwerp weg en bedenk of hij nodig is achterin in een 'by clause'.

How to make a passive

Add a form of to be before the last verb and change the last verb to a past participle (voltooid deelwoord = ww+ed / 3e vorm)

* choose the correct time from the narrative tenses

* try to make a passive 

was / were + volt.dlw

was/ were + being + volt.dlw

Had been + volt.dlw

He discovered the house ……. (ransack) by burglers.

The photos were being downloaded.

The next moment she ….. (hit) on the head.
