Tenses and the passive voice:
-> You have to know your TENSES (= werkwoordstijden) to make the correct passive voice.

-> Tenses are: present simple, past simple, present perfect, present continuous, past continuous.

Tenses and the passive voice:
-> Normally, the tenses are in the ACTIVE voice: 
Present simple, active voice: I eat a banana.
-> Now we make these sentences PASSIVE: 
Present simple, passive voice: A banana is eaten by me.
-> The focus is on the action 'eating' (not on 'I')
-> The object (banana) becomes the subject
-> A form of to be (is) + past participle (eaten) is added.

Tenses, active voice: 
Present simple: I eat a banana every day.
Present continuous: I am eating a banana right now.
Past simple: I ate a banana yesterday.
Past continuous: I was eating a banana when she called.
Present perfect: I have been eating bananas since I was two years old.

ACTIVE voice: I eat a banana every day.
PASSIVE voice: That banana is eaten (by me) every day.

ACTIVE voice: He is eating a banana right now.
PASSIVE voice: A banana is being eaten (by him) right now.
