A few ''fun/weak'' ways to introduce your arguments

How to form strong arguments:

Use one or all of these methods:

Ethos: credibility and ethics.

Pathos: emotions and passion.

Logos: logical reasons and evidence. 

Side note: you may use the previous ones as a jokey intro.

Humans shouldn't eat animal products. Read and color match.

1: Animals have feelings just like us so we should let them live.

2: You need 15 liters of water for one KG of beef which is bad for the environment.

3: My doctor says eating meat can result in high blood pressure so I eat vegetarian.

Health insurance should be free for Dutch citizens. Argue this stament using ethos (ethics)

School cafetarias should only serve healthy foods. Argue this stament using pathos (emotion)

Smoking and vaping should be banned in NL. Argue this stament using logos (logical reasoning)

Time to work

1: Get together with your group --> tables together.

2: Pick three statements --> see list on ELO or come up with new ones.

3: Open and share --> create a Google doc for your group.

3: Divide and conquer --> do individual research about the topics and takes notes.

Make sure to check your sources and watch out for fake news.

What's rebuttal?

Layout of a debate

Opening (2 min): both sides explain why they're for or against the statement. 

--> Don't give away everything, just summarize.

POV (4 min): people for start and give two arguments. People against continue and give two arguments. --> take notes!

Rebuttal (6 min): people for react to people against and vice versa. You may add one more argument to strengthen your case.

Closing (2 min): people for summarize arguments and people against summarize theirs. 

Time to work

1: Exchange research --> tell each other what you've found. 

2: Divide tasks --> split up and pick a focus. 

3: Arguments --> form at least 3 arguments for and against per statement.

4: Regroup --> come together and structure your debate.
