Four ways of expressing the future

Tegenwoordige tijd

Present simple (hele werkwoord +s bij he/she/it. Bij feiten, gewoontes en regelmatige gebeurtenissen. Vb: I often read books. 

Present continuous (am, are, is+ ing). Om te zeggen dat iets nu, op dit  moment aan de gang is. Vb: I am reading a book now.

Will/shall + infinitive

Gebruik: Om iets aan te bieden, beloftes, aankondigingen, besluiten, spontane reacties en voorspellingen waar je geen bewijs voor hebt. Vb: I promise I will help you tomorrow. Bij vraagzinnen met onderwerp I + we moet je shall gebruiken. Vb: Shall I help you tomorrow?

Be going to + infinitive

Gebruik:

- Als je iets van plan bent.

- Als je een voorspelling maakt met bewijzen.

Paul:     ''Mom, where’s my raincoat?''

Rogier: ''Why?''

Paul:      '' The weather-report says it is going to rain.''

(be going to + infinitive)

Present Continuous

Gebruik:

- Iets is afgesproken

- Iets is georganiseerd

   Met tijdsindicatie.

Rogier: ''Paul, can you help me  next Saturday?''

Paul:      ''No sorry, I am throwing a party next Saturday.''

(to be + ww + -ing)

Present Simple

Gebruik:

- Vaste tijden

- Vast schema/rooster

Rogier: ''Paul hurry up! Don’t you dare miss the bus!''

Paul:      ''It leaves at 9:30 mom, ease up!''

 (verb + -s)
