APA-style

- American Psychological Association

- Commonly used style of citation, but it's quite complex.

- Used to acknowledge sources and avoid plagiarism.

In-text citation:

The more time students had spent on Facebook, the less happy they felt over time (Wainwright, 2012)

Balloon Debate

• To gain experience speaking in an
  informal debate setting. 
• To think creatively to generate relevant arguments. 
• To develop persuasive responses to simple questions. 

There are four people in a hot air balloon. It is sinking because it is too heavy. The only way for them to survive is for one person to be thrown out of the balloon. 

Balloon Debate

Round 1:  give a short speech (no more than 2 minutes) explaining why your character should not be thrown out of the balloon. 

Round 2:  ask each other questions and answer questions

Voting: how well did each person do in persuading them
in favour of that character?

Why did George Washington agree to become President?

In what country was Albert Einstein born?

What happened in Einstein’s miracle year ( 1905)?

When did Albert Einstein receive a Nobel prize for physics?

Why did Albert Einstein go to the United States?

Give an example of how Einstein’s work can still be felt in today’s society.
