We use the second conditional for unreal situations in the present or future.

if + past simple + would ('d)

If I was in trouble, I'd (=would) come to you for help.
(But I'm not in trouble.)

Third conditional
We use the third conditional for unreal situations in the past.

if + past perfect + would have

If you had asked me, I would have helped.
(But you didn't tell me, so I didn't help.)
