How to create a class and how to distribute a lesson.

In LessonUp, there are various ways to share lessons with students and colleagues. The method you prefer depends entirely on how you use LessonUp.

Connection

There is always a connection between you, the teaching material, and the students. You know which students have already engaged with the lessons.

Always see all lessons

Any student who joins the class later will always see the lessons that have already been shared. You don't need to share the lesson again for new students.

Assessments

Additionally, you can conduct an assessment through a LessonUp class. This is not possible without using a LessonUp class.

Of course, students need to register and then log in to LessonUp, either via LessonUp.app or the LessonUp app. And sometimes, students may get creative, leading them to work under different accounts.

Sharing lessons with colleagues

1. Go to 'My LessonUp' and click on the three dots next to the lesson you want to share. 

2. Then, click on 'Share with colleagues'. The link that appears can be copied and pasted in an email or on social media, for example.

Good to know 💡: A colleague cannot modify your lesson. This can only be done after they have copied the lesson to their own LessonUp environment..

Sharing lessons with students (using a link)

1. Go to 'My LessonUp' and click on the three dots next to the lesson you want to share. Then, click on 'Share with students'.

2. First, click on 'No class' and then click on 'Next'. Create a label that you can recognize for the link. The link that appears can be copied and pasted in an email or learning management system (LMS).

Good to know 💡 : When sharing a lesson this way, students do not need to be logged in. As a result, students cannot save the lesson, and no reporting is available.

Sharing lessons with students (via a class)

To share lessons with a class, a few conditions must be met:
 

• Ensure that your students have registered with LessonUp, either through the app or via the website lessonup.app.

• Ensure that your students are logged in.

Creating a class with an email address

1. Go to 'My LessonUp' and then click on 'Classes' on the left side of the screen.

2. Click on '+ create a new class' and enter the name of the class, then click 'Ok'. (Tip 💡: It's advisable to use the names of the classes as they are known within the school.)

3. Click on the name of the created class. On the right side, a unique class code will appear. When the students enter this code in the app or on the website, they will become members of the class. The names of the students will appear below the code.

(Tip 💡: It is advisable to have students sign up for a class during the lesson.)

Creating a class without an email address

If your students do not have their own email addresses, it is possible to create a class by manually entering all the students' information. This situation particularly occurs in primary education (PO).

1. Click on 'My classes' and then on '+ Create a new class' or open an already created class.

2. Click on the (new) class and then click on 'Students'.

3. Click on '+ Add students'. Choose the 'Primary School' tab and enter the names of the students one by one.

4. Passwords will be automatically set for the students. A list of these passwords can be saved and/or printed in case a student forgets their password.

Sharing a lesson with a class

Lesson modules allow you to distribute lessons to students in a structured manner by organizing them under a module or chapter. Students can find the lesson under that module in their accounts.

Via My Classes:

Go to My Classes and select the class in which you want to use a lesson module.

Go to the tab "Distributed lessons."

Click on "Create a lesson module" and give the module a name.

Click on the lesson module and click "Add lesson." Add the lesson you want to share with your class

Sharing a lesson with a class

Through My Lessons:

1. Select the lesson you want to share with the students by clicking on the three dots on the right and click on "Share with students."

2. Choose the class with which you want to share the lesson.

3. Select the lesson module where the lesson should be placed or choose "+ Add module."

4. Create an optional message for the class.

5. Share the lesson with the class: through a LessonUp class or via SOM or Google Classroom.

Sharing a modified lesson

If you make changes to a lesson, it is possible to apply those changes to the lessons in the students' LessonUp environments. To do this, you share the lesson again using the same process as described earlier.

LessonUp recognizes that the lesson has already been shared with a class and indicates how many changes have been made. By clicking on 'Changes,' the modified parts of the lesson will be shown. To apply the changes, click on 'Update now.'
