* Queen Elisabeth is the longest-serving (langstdienende) Queen of England in British history! The second-longest being Queen Victoria. She was an Empress and ruled over the British Empire (nowdays it's called The Commonwealth of Nations). 

*To celebrate her long reign (regeerperiode), British people take four days off to enjoy the activities that have been organised.

Saint Nicholas' Eve

Dear ............, 

I heard you are going to celebrate Saint Nicholas' Eve on December the 5th. I think it's a wonderful celebration. I heard you are going to unwrap presents that your friends have made. These are so-called 'surprises' or something? It sounds a lot like Christmas to me. We celebrate Christmas in our country. We don't eat gingerbread cookies but we do also drink hot cocao (warm chocolate milk) and we sing a lot of Christmas songs and we always go to the big Christmas Parade in New York that takes place every year. You can always come over to New York if you want to. We could go to the parade or buy christmas gifts for our family and friends at Macy's . I will let you think about it. You can always send me an email if you feel like coming along.
