Speech preparation
Any idea on a subject yet? A good starting point?
We have seen and analysed a good speech, so we have some clues... but how to start?
Let's work with a speech "structure"
Slide 20 - Diapositive
Slide 21 - Vidéo
Speech structure
Hook/Intro – Arouse interest! Something you will return to later (question/quote/thought/statistic/statement/personal story)
Story – personal choice – source? Research done? Facts?
Imagine that… – reasons – how many? 2-3? Your connection
Relevance to today – broader issue but still personal interest
Conclusion – repeat reason for choice – return to the point of interest from the Hook/Intro – leave the audience with something to think about e.g. question, “what if…?”, “let’s hope that…”
Slide 22 - Diapositive
Write your own speech
Take the speech format sheet and get started
But first: let's have a short break
Slide 23 - Diapositive
Your speech:
- use the speech structure
- use your laptop and internet to find inspiration
- remember the speech has to last 2 minutes
- Enjoy writing it!
