2. Zonder auxiliary verb (alleen een hoofdwerkwoord)

Rule 1
With the verb to be and auxiliary verbs (hulp ww) such as can and may, you place that verb at the beginning of a question. In a negative sentence, you place not/n’t after that verb.
Examples:
I canspeakEnglish well. - Can I speak English well? - I can't/cannotspeak English well.
I ama teacher. - AmI a teacher? - I am not a teacher.

Rule 2
With any other main verb, you add the verb to do. You place a form of to do at the beginning of a question. In a negative sentence, you place not/n’t after a form of to do. The main verb changes to the infinitive.
Examples:
I love cheese. - Do I love cheese? - I don'tlove cheese.
Henrieke loves her cats. - Does Henrieke love her cats? - Henrieke doesn'tlove her cats.

- 2. If there is no form of "to be" or no auxiliary verb (can/may/etc.), you add a form of "to do".
He told me about the trip. > Did he tell you about the trip? The cat sleeps in our bed. > The cat doesn't sleep in our bed
