Parts of an E-mail
An email contains several (=verschillende) parts:
1. Salutation (aanhef)
2. Contents paragraph (inhoud alinea)
3. Closing sentence (afsluitzin)
4. Closing (afsluiting)

These parts will be discussed in the next pages. Mind you, these are used for formal e-mails!

You always start email by greeting the person you write.

Formal email: Paragraph
You always start your content paragraph (inhoud alinea) by saying why you are writing the person. The rest of the paragraph gives more information.

Formal email: closing phrase
You always end your email with a closing sentence.  
Examples: 
  • I look forward to hearing from you. (Ik kijk uit naar uw antwoord.)
  • Please do not hesitate to contact me with further questions. (Aarzel niet me te contacteren met verdere vragen.)
  • I hope you have a good evening/day/week/weekend. 
  • I really appreciate the help/support/time/assistance.

You always end your email with a closing sentence.

You always end your email with a ending phrase, followed by a comma.
