De present continuous (-ing-vorm) wordt gebruikt als iets nu aan de gang is.

Je maakt de present contiuous met am/is/are + werkwoord+ing

Negatives in present continuous

 In de ontkenning komt not achter am, is, are.

She is not answering.

Bij is en are kan de verkorte vorm op twee manieren gebruikt worden.

She's not answering / She isn't answering.

They're not answering / They aren't answering.

Questions in present continuous

 In de vraag komt am, is, are vóór het onderwerp.

Is he trying to ring her mobile phone?

Are you feeling alright?
