Grammar : present continuous

De present continuous is een vorm van de tegenwoordige tijd.

Je gebruikt de present continuous bij gebeurtenissen die:

- nu bezig of                       

-nu aan de gang zijn

Grammar 

much/many / (a) little / (a) few

Telbare zelfstandige naamwoorden zijn woorden waar je een getal voor kunt zetten en die je dus in het meervoud kunt gebruiken --> many/ few/ a few:

one student - two students

one mountain - twelve mountains

Niet-telbare zelfstandige naamwoorden zijn woorden waar je géén getal voor kunt zetten en die dus ook geen meervoudsvorm hebben, zoals time en milk --> much/little/ a little .

Question tags

Een tag is een kort vraagje aan het einde van een zin: ..., is it? / ..., isn't it? / ... can't you?

De spreker vraagt hiermee eigenlijk: Ben je het met me eens?

In het Nederlands zeg je vaak iets als: nietwaar? / hè? / toch? / vind je niet?

Na een bevestigende zin (+) is de tag ontkennend (–).

Na een ontkennende zin (–) is de tag bevestigend (+).

One/ Ones

Vaak kun je een zelfstandig naamwoord vervangen door one wanneer je het herhaalt of wanneer je antwoord geeft op een vraag:

Which skirt are you going to buy? The white one.

This new bag is black, my old one was green.

I like your bike, did you buy a new one?

Bij meervoud gebruik je ones:

I'm going to buy new trainers because my old ones have holes in them.
