Go through Padlet with the kids

WWII/Holocaust

Watch through whole video and ask questions. Give room for pupils to ask questions about the video.

First chapter

-> PDF version is on Padlet

You can read along while the teacher reads the first chapter

* Underline any words you might not recognise 

* Take notes, highlight or annotate

Open the PDF on the whiteboard or print out the first chapter and read out loud to them. They can read along on their own copies.

Go through setting up a Goodreads account on the whiteboard and have the pupils follow along on their own devices. Make sure you have them added to the class. Show them how to set a yearly goal, how to add their classmates and how to do the things in the video. They can rewatch the video themselves as well where necessary. 

Online safety

When making your account keep the following in mind:

*  First name + initial of last name

* Only befriend classmates and people you know in real life

* Never share any personal information on Goodreads

* Know when you share your opinion publicly and privately

Goodreads rules

Rules:

* Treat each other online as you would offline in real life.

* Be openminded towards other's opinions. Respectfully disagree when you viewpoints don't allign.

* Communicate with courtesy and respect.

* Be mindful of the language you use. Don't use foul language at any point in this group.

Homework

* Read until around page 160 over the next week

* Reply to three classmates their reading log on the Padlet

* Keep up your own reading log

* Set a yearly reading goal on Goodreads and update your reading progress
