Voornaamwoorden.

Als onderwerp: (wie of wat doet iets?)

Als meewerkend voorwerp: (je kunt er aan/voor voor zetten)

The book was given to him. 

Als lijdend voorwerp: (met wie of wat gebeurt iets?)

His mother took care of him. 

Als onderwerp: (wie of wat doet iets?)

The book was given to him. 

His mother took care of him. 

It is his book.                  (Het is zijn boek.)

The book is his.              (Het is van hem. Het is de zijne.)

Bezittelijk vnmwrd met zelfstandig naamwoord:

Het is hun huis. Het is ons gebouw.

Bezittelijk vnmwrd zonder zelfstandig naamwoord:

Het is die van hen. Het is de onze. 

It is theirs. It is ours.
