Grammar 13 Present simple, present continuous, future (TB blz. 89)

                       (tegenw. tijd, duurvorm, toekomst)

De present simple en present continuous zijn een herhaling van grammar 11 uit hoofdstuk 4.

Kort samengevat:

present simple: bij feiten, gewoonten en regelmatige gebeurtenissen (het gebeurt niet per se nu) 

1 werkwoord. Bijv. I never travel. / The sun rises in the east. (s bij he/she/it!)

present continuous: als iemand NU iets aan het doen is / er gebeurt NU iets

2 werkwoorden: am/are/is + ww-ing. Bijv. The sun is shining at the moment.

Future = toekomst (de onderste 4 blokken op blz. 89)

In klas 2 hebben we er al twee van gehad: to be going to en shall/will

To be going to

1) Als je iets van plan bent of 2) een voorspelling met bewijs

Bijv. 1) I am going to wash the car this afternoon.   } vergeet niet am/are/is

        2) Look at the clouds. It is going to rain.            } erbij te zetten!

shall/will

bij: iets aanbieden, beloftes, aankondigingen, besluiten, voorspelling zonder bewijs

Bijv. I will help you. I think he will win. My parents won't buy a new car.

Let op: will + not = won't / shall bij I en we in een vraag (Shall I ....? / Shall we ....?)

Blok 3 en 6 zijn nieuw.

Present continuous

Normaal gesproken gebruik je die voor iets dat je NU aan het doen bent.

Bijv. I am reading a book now.

Maar: deze tijd mag je ook gebruiken voor de toekomst als er een afspraak is gemaakt waarvan de tijd en/of plaats al vaststaat.

Bijv. I am meeting John at the mall at 3 o'clock.

        He's leaving for New Zealand tomorrow.

Present simple
Ook deze tijd kun je voor de toekomst gebruiken. Dat doe je als het gaat om vastgestelde tijden. Denk aan aankomst- en vertrektijden van treinen, vliegtuigen e.d., openings- en sluitingstijden van winkels, begin- en eindtijden van voorstellingen, school e.d.

Bijv. The shops close at six.  } Snap je het verschil?

         The shop closes at six.  }

         The train leaves at 6.15.

         The film start in 10 minutes.

Let op: je mag dan dus niet will of going to gebruiken!
