What do you know about Past Continuous and Present Perfect Continuous?

Past Continuous
  • formed by combining the past tense of to be (i.e., was/were) with the verb's present participle (-ing word).
  • used to describe conditions that existed in the past.
  • used to describe something that was happening continuously in the past 
  • Not every verb can be used in past continuous

Present Perfect Continuous
  • has/have been + the present participle (root + -ing).
  • Used to show an activity began in the past and is still not finished right now. 
  • not all verbs are compatible with continuous action (e.g arrive)
  • Recently and lately are words that we often find with verbs in the present perfect continuous tense.
