Why use the passive?

In het Engels moet je zin beginnen met datgene dat het belangrijkst is. Bijvoorbeeld:

The mailman delivers the letters.

Ik vind het belangrijker dat mijn brieven bezorgd worden dan wie dit doet. The letters zijn dus belangrijker dan the mailman. Dus:

The letters are delivered by the mailman.

Om de passive te maken heb je twee dingen nodig:

1. To be in de juiste vorm.
   
2. Voltooid deelwoord

Dus:

• This TV show is watched by millions.
• This photo was taken last summer.

Passive - overview

Present Simple Passive:

Active:

Passive:

English is spoken by a lot of people.
